Festive Cheer at Baillie Lodges

December 24, 2014

The Baillie Lodges family, including the terrific teams at Capella Lodge, Southern Ocean Lodge and Longitude 131 warmly wish you a fabulous festive season – cheers to a Happy Christmas and a New Year full of fun and adventures.

There are so many reasons to celebrate this season, we hope you’re sharing great food and lasting memories with the ones you love.

And, if you’re looking for some relaxed yet luxurious inspiration, look no further than the Baillie Lodges’ Christmas and New Year line-up.

On the tropical island paradise of Lord Howe, the team at Capella is planning a degustation lunch served alfresco, with long tables spanning Gowers Terrace, in handy proximity to the horizon pool and with open views of the turquoise reef and   the magnetic Mounts Gower and Lidgbird. Featured on the seven-course menu is fresh-caught yellow fin tuna, crayfish, festive favourites organic turkey and pork, with berries and local cheeses to finish. Each plate is matched with premium Australian wines. As the sun inches towards the horizon, lunch eases into sunset drinks and canapés, with a picnic on the beach’s fine white sands ends a full, fun Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, with cool southerly breezes sweeping Kangaroo Island’s wild cliffs, guests at Southern Ocean Lodge might start Christmas Day with a thrilling quad-bike ride, or a relaxing kayak along the river. Lunch is a grand affair with an eight course degustation and a focus on seafood, matched with South Australia’s finest wines. It’s a celebration of the island’s finest local ingredients, including oysters, hand-dived queen scallops, free range Kangaroo Island turkey and goose, smoked sheep’s milk manchego and chocolate pudding icecream cones served on the terrace. Santa will call in on his way to the Antarctic, and the afternoon sees an Aussie tradition come into play with impromptu cricket on the beach.

Christmas in the Australia’s ‘Red Centre’ takes a luxurious turn at Longitude 131, with a six-course celebration dinner topping the day’s adventures around Uluru-Kata Tjuta and matched with a selection of Australia’s finest wines. Corralling the finest festive ingredients from around the nation, Longitude 131’s Christmas menu features South Australian oysters, kingfish, Coorong beef and Murray River cod, free range turkey and pork with local ‘bush tucker’ flavours like Davidson plums, Finger limes and native berries. Guests can look forward to celebrating with a cocktail, outback style – cheers to a Quandong Effervescent or Rhubarb and Ryeberry Rumble!

However you celebrate this Christmas, we hope do it in stylish Australian spirit… and with gusto!

Cheers, James and Hayely Baillie and the Baillie Lodges team.
